ICYMI: Jane Raybould for US Senate Campaign This Week-What You Need to Know

The Jane Raybould Campaign for U.S. Senate is a campaign to watch—Nebraskans (and the nation) are taking notice. This week, Jane got a lot of media coverage, between filing as a candidate for U.S. Senate with the Nebraska Secretary of State; launching her #KitchenTableTour, a listening tour dedicated to hearing about issues, often discussed around the kitchen table, that matter to and impact Nebraska families, small businesses and farmers; and showing her viability to win as an independent-minded Democrat in a political climate, illustrated yet again with this week’s election, which wants leadership like Jane in Washington. Here are some of the highlights from this week that you need to know:

NATIONAL COVERAGE

Don’t count out a democrat in a red state, especially in this political climate:

Politico: Democrats look to spread that Alabama magic

Strong turnout and low approval for Donald Trump have Democrats eyeing states where they haven’t been competitive in years…“What I’m sensing and seeing from not only the people that I’m meeting, but the people I’ve spoken to on the phone, is a different level of engagement,” Raybould said. “The crowds are bigger. They’re excited. They sense a real possibility in our state.”

Jane made the FRONT PAGE of the local newspaper…TWICE, while on her Kitchen Table Tour.

The North Platte Telegraph: Challenger for Senate seat eyes taxes, health care

She [Raybould] said like so many Nebraska families who gather around their table to discuss and resolve the issues they have, she wants to utilize the same process to bring about change…“I know it’s time to make a change,” Raybould said. “We are so sick and tired of the short-sighted, divisive, partisan politics that are eroding our democracy, our democratic process, our voting rights.”

Scottsbluff Star-Herald: Businesswoman challenging Fischer in Senate race

“I don’t think you can be a Democrat in our beautiful red state without having some skill-set at building coalitions,” she said. “First and foremost I’m a business woman and a job creator.”

Sen. Fischer is Sweating. At the news of Jane’s filing, the Fischer campaign quickly went on the defensive and went on-record mud-slinging against Jane-added only after the article was first published.

Lincoln Journal Star: Raybould says Fischer has become ‘a Washington Republican’

Fischer’s failure to speak out in opposition to Republican senatorial nominee Roy Moore in Alabama, who has been accused of multiple acts of sexual misconduct with teenage girls when he was in his 30s, reflects “a deficiency of moral leadership (in) Washington,” Raybould said shortly after officially filing her candidacy with the secretary of state. “We need to send a clear message to Senator Fischer that says that does not represent Nebraska values,” Raybould said.
